Take It Easy

For the record, driving nearly 700 miles in a day... even with two drivers, is a lot, especially when thunder and rain follow you about all day.  The New Mexico countryside provided grand views, and we were especially happy when Flagstaff was in the gentle 70's rather than triple digits.  We had lunch at Sonic (I had the chocolate chip cookie dough blast and Yeu-Fann elected for mint choco chip).

As we passed Winslow, I flashed back to my Grand year and a bunch of grandies singing Take it Easy over and over again (I think at one of the camps).

We finally made Raton around 10:30, (having lost an hour to time zones) and practically went straight to bed. The room at the Budget Host was nice... for a budget, and Minerva got a double bed all to herself.  Behind the counter of the motel was a sign that declared that you must declare your pet and pay the $5 dollar pet fee.  Then it said they absolutely did not accept pets over 50 pounds. I told Yeu-Fann it was a strict don't ask, don't tell policy... So Minerva was magically 33 pounds slimmer for the whole ten hours or so that we were there.

To close, the Eagles performing "Take it Easy":
