Singing in the Rain

Grayville Super 8 had very eclectic sense of decor, but was clean and comfortable, which is all one can ask of a budget motel.

I have seen more rain in the past 24 hours than I have seen in the past 5 years. Sheets and sheets.  It all started when we had to pack the car.  Even though we parked like 10 feet from the door, it was a struggle. Just take a look at poor Yeu-Fann and his brand new umbrella.

It didn't last too long. We were dumb enough to think of hiding from the storm under the entrance patio AFTER he got most of the car packed.  The one advantage to having Minerva pee on command, is that it took less than a minute for us to run to the grass, pee and get into the car, just looking a tiny bit like a drowned rat... the rat being me, as Minerva just lets it roll right off her coat like a seal.

The driving was quite harrowing at times, as we kept racing out of the storm that pelted down so much rain we could hardly see the car in front of us, or the idiot behind us who was driving without his headlights on.  At one point we decided to pull off and found about five other cars all parked by the side of the road doing the same thing.  The great thing was that the bugs were all washed off the window from the night before.

We stopped at a Johnny Rockets past the storm, hoping to grab some take-out and then head to the rest stop one exit ahead for a nice little picnic.  Just as our food was ready, the skies opened up and we had our picnic in the driest spot in the outlet mall that we could find. Minerva was very popular with the other people waiting out the rain, and Yeu-Fann was popular with Minerva when he played Catch the French Fry with her.
We arrived in Asheville in one piece and settled into our nice Air BnB house.  There are quite an interesting number of things to ponder on the wall, but it does seem lacking in a coffee table and a bookshelf.  Would be nice to be able to blog from somewhere else than the kitchen table.
