Main Street Electrical Parade

Today we traveled the lesser known highways between the tip of New Mexico and most of Kansas.  After giving up on trying to connect his phone to my car, and having left my cd case way out of reach, Sirius Broadway was our friend. We didn't take any pictures, but there was just enough rain to rinse the bug splatter off the windshield which was fine for us.

We had lunch in a tiny bend in the road where the options were Tex Mex or Chinese, so we ordered take-out from the Chinese place and headed to the local park for a nice outdoor lunch with Minerva. She was not happy with the kids letting off fire crackers down the street. Yeu-Fann  enjoyed his order of shrimp in lobster sauce with crab rangoons.  I was not so happy of my choice of steamed rice and egg roll.  The egg roll was inedible and the rice was, I think, instant long grain, but the sesame chicken was nice.

Our directions went something like this: Turn left on Main Street and drive 100 miles. Turn right on Main Street and drive 86 miles. Take the second turn at the roundabout and drive 100 miles.

After a dinner at Appleby's in Newton, we headed towards Mel's mom's house. Yeu-Fann might have accidentally left off a digit in the street number and sent us to the wrong address (a rather sketchy one at that) about ten miles away.  We figured out our mistake before getting out of the car and arrived around 9 to be greeted by our lovely host.
